- Funeral services for Robert Wellington Hughes, 75, will be conducted at 10
a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the chapel at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in
Evansville by Pastor Terry Roelfsema of Christian Church of Vista West.
Military rites will be accorded by the United Veterans Council of Natrona
County.
He died Feb. 4, 2003, at Life Care Center of Casper.
Born June 27, 1927 in Lusk, he was the son of Victor
Curtis and Eva Marie (Wentworth) Hughes; attended school in Riverton; and
graduated from high school in Shoshoni.
In June 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served for
two years.
On
Oct. 9, 1987, he married Kathleen May "Kit" McClellan in Cheyenne.
They moved to the Casper area that year.
His interests included ranching, farming, gardening,
and raising houseplants. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his wife and
family.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years; two brothers
and their wives, Walter of Riverton and Carl of Thermopolis; sister, Pat
Collins, and her husband of Cheyenne; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister,
Shirley M. Spencer; and two nieces.
Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of
arrangements.
