Helen Grace Herbst Rowland

 

Helen Grace Herbst Rowland, 81, of Springville, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away October 3, 2002 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 1, 1921, in Shoshoni, Wyoming to Rudolph & Mary Kump Herbst. She married Blaine K. Rowland on November 15, 1941 in Gunnison, Colorado. Blaine passed away in 1996.

Helen graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming and then graduated from beauty school in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Springville in 1941 where she lived, worked, raised and loved her family. She worked as a beautician for over 50 years and operated her shop out of her home.

She is survived by her sons Duane Rowland (Carolyn) Hayden, Alabama, Gary Rowland (Ellie) Springville, and her daughter Darlene Stansfield (Russell C.) Springville, a brother, Rudy Herbst (Pat) Lander, Wyoming, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Helen especially loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, feeding everyone that came to her home -- including the birds, crocheting, writing in her journal, and taking trips. Helen loved life and was very proud of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 8 at 2 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 South in Springville. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary on Monday evening, October 7 from 6-8 p.m. and at the Mortuary Tuesday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
